First, yes, I really do go by my full name: Alexandra.
I was “Ali” as a child, sometimes called “Al” by close friends, and “Ali-gator” by the very best people I know.
I’ve been a writer for a long time.
I have a passion for writing that started as soon as I was able to put pen to paper. In high school, I was taking college-level writing courses and tutoring underclassmen in the finer points of grammar and punctuation. In college, I used to proofread my friends’ papers in English and Spanish.
I never imagined that one day I’d turn my love of writing and proofreading into a career.
My professional writing career escalated quickly.
In 2004, I started out writing a handful of newsletter articles for the Illowa Council Boy Scouts of America. Eventually, I took over managing the council website, proofreading nearly all flyers and brochures, and producing the annual report.
This experience whetted my appetite for writing and marketing, and led me to my next job in 2007 working in the marketing department at a company called Jon-Don, an industry-leading distributor.
In less than a year, I went from being a Marketing Assistant, to Proofreader, to the only full-time Copywriter on staff. Tens of thousands of customers have read and continue to read my writing every year: product descriptions, landing pages, flyers, brochures, and even video scripts.
I managed the social media channels for the company, too, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, and YouTube. So if you need some savvy social media advice, I can help.
I’m extremely fast and accurate.
According to Grammarly, one of my favorite web apps for checking spelling, punctuation, and grammar, I write and review an average of 37,000 words each week. And out of all those words, the app detects only around 245 mistakes each week. That gives me an accuracy rate of about 99.4%. Not too shabby!

I started freelancing in 2015, and I love it!
My husband’s job required our family to move to a new state in 2015, so I had to leave my job at Jon-Don. I was quite sad to leave the company that I loved, but saw it as an opportunity to try something new. I took the brave leap into being a solo entrepreneur, and am loving every minute of it.
Now I get to use my writing skills and keen marketing mind to help other entrepreneurs and small business owners connect with their customers.
I really want to help professional carpet cleaners.
Thanks to my years at Jon-Don, I have extensive knowledge of the carpet cleaning industry. I spent years looking at the websites and marketing materials of our customers, and WISHED I could offer my proofreading and writing skills to help these guys out.
Now I can!
Whether you’re looking to strengthen the copy on your website and marketing materials, build your brand, or create that smart, professional appearance your customers are looking for, I’m the copywriting professional you can count on!
